I'm about to take 1,000 terrible photos across America.
BUT we will learn together something valuable!
The plan: tomorrow I'm getting in a car in Austin, Texas, and driving to California.
I have no photography experience, no fancy camera, just my phone and a friend who's going to watch me embarrass myself like a cringe tourist.
week 16 of 53skills is photography.
but not the "watch a youtube tutorial and take a nice sunset pic" kind.
the challenge: 1,000 photos in 7 days.
and on the last day, I print my single best shot and try to SELL it to a complete stranger.
day 1 photos will be terrible. Here’s an example of my pictures:

yes, it’s ass I know 🙂 The place was beautiful but the picture does not capture that.
Why I picked this skill this week:
every skill I've learned so far has been invisible. you can't see someone's cold calling ability. you can't watch negotiation skills improve in real time.
but with photography the improvement is right there. visual.
so every day this week I'll post 2 photos side by side. my best shot of the day and my worst. you'll watch me get better in real time and learn together, so you can take beautiful pictures too!
either way, you're entertained, you learn things and we share a unique road trip experience.
The route: Austin to California. desert highways. small towns. big sky.
I'm using AI as my photography coach. feeding my shots into Claude, getting composition feedback, learning theory between stops.
the 53skills method: intense human practice + AI fast coaching.
1,000 photos. 7 days. 1 sale attempt.
let's see what happens.
if you've ever wanted to learn photography but kept telling yourself you need an expensive camera first, follow along this week.
