last week I got 500,000 views on a video I posted doing NOTHING in a room for 7 hours (for skill 8 of 53, brain resetting).
Today I sat down with someone who actually knows what she's doing.
because this week we are learning the skill of camera confidence.
A skill that would allow you to reach millions of people at scale if you know how to do it. That would allow you to actually change the world.
That would allow you to meet the coolest people in your life.
So I got an epic interview with expert Mey :)
Mey runs a youtube channel called Passive Income with Mey. 50,000 subscribers. 5 years of consistent content. monetized. the real deal.
I asked her one question: how do you get confident on camera?
her answer surprised me.
full video with tips on YouTube:
what she said that stuck
may didn't give me the usual "just be yourself" advice. she got specific.
bring a friend.
having someone interview you or just sit behind the camera changes everything. you stop performing for a lens and start talking to a person. your voice relaxes. your face relaxes. suddenly you sound like yourself and even risk having a good time.
walk while you talk.
movement kills stiffness. when you're walking, your brain focuses on the path and your body loosens up. the words come out more natural. it's almost unfair how well this works.
and the one thing nobody wants to hear: it's a process. not a switch.
you don't wake up one day confident on camera.
you film 50 bad videos and slowly notice that video 51 feels different. there's no shortcut. even with 50,000 subscribers, Mey still has days where she doesn't love what she filmed.
that was honestly the most useful part. knowing that someone five years in still deals with it.
The difference is that it just doesn't stop her anymore.
And she bought a house with that Youtube money.

why this matters beyond youtube
you might never start a channel. that's fine.
but at some point you'll be on a zoom call where you need to sound like you know what you're talking about. or giving a toast at a wedding. or pitching an idea to someone who could change your life.
camera confidence is just the training ground. the real skill is being able to express what you think when it counts, without your brain sabotaging you with "that sounded stupid."
500,000 people watched me sit in silence. imagine what happens when I actually learn to communicate well on camera.
imagine what happens when YOU do.
watch the full conversation
I posted the full 30-minute conversation with Mey on YouTube. it's my first long-form video on the channel, because I promised you I would do 3 useful videos for this week’s challenge.
it's not perfect. the audio could be better. I say "you know" too many times. but it's real and it's posted, which is more than most people can say about their first attempt.
watch it here, it contains more strategies and tips on how to master the camera, and also… it was fun 🙂

this week's quest:
film and post 3 long-form YouTube videos. 1 done.
let's practice together. Your turn.
Prepare your first video.
