that's what Juan told me. My Uber driver. the first stranger I talked to out of 50.

i'm in Santa Barbara now. just landed after 12 hours of flying. this week's challenge: talk to 50 complete strangers.

Juan was number one. He arrived with a GIGANTIC SUV.

I didn't even plan it yesterday evening. I just asked him a simple question: “so you got a lady to bring to Rome?”

and he told me everything. the argument. her leaving. the silence in his apartment now.

here's what surprised me: how fast he opened up when someone was actually willing to listen.

Gave him 5 stars and tips where to get the best tiramisu in Rome and make things right with her.

he smiled.

that's it. that's stranger number one.
