Mission: make 100 origami birds this week.
Because the Japanese say if you make 1000, you get a wish…
I wanted to make 100, to get a small wish.
And you can do maybe 10, to practice, to have a cute flock of paper birds.
But I failed.

I'm going to Miami Beach today. Was one of my dreams since 8 years! :)
I don't know what skill I'm learning yet this week.
I just know that after driving across Texas for two weeks, the next chapter of this project involves an ocean.
but first, let me tell you about a fail and a hack:
The fail: week 17 was origami. the goal was 100 paper birds.
I made about 40….
I was folding in the car, at gas stations, in motels. the road trip was too intense, I was too tired. so I missed the goal.
because I did not plan properly. I was foolish and I’m more upset about it than you think.
now the hack. this is the part I want you to actually use:
I gave a bird to a stranger. just handed it to her. she held it with both hands smilled for like 10 minutes.
5 minutes of folding. zero cost. and she's going to remember that moment for a long time. maybe forever.
so here's what I want you to do. learn one origami figure, just one. a bird, a flower, whatever.
it takes ten minutes from a youtube tutorial, added it at the bottom.
then make one and give it to someone. a friend, a coworker, a random person at a coffee shop.
we live in a world where everything is digital and disposable. a physical thing that someone made for you by hand is so rare, no one does it.
it hits like a gift ten times its size.
try it.
then reply and tell me how it went.
and if you have an idea for what skill I should learn in miami beach, reply with that too.
best suggestion becomes week 18. I'm trusting you. don't make me learn salsa.
